No system update notifications for a long time

I have Kubuntu 16.04 on three different computers. In order to get any updates on any of these computers I have to manually click on the update manager to get any update notifications. I have the widget updates activated on all of my computers. I have not changed any of my settings that would turn my updates off. What can I do to get my software update notifications working again?

Widgets? Do you mean apps (or packages)?
What are you using to access the repository? I use Muon and I have the update notification checkboxes checked, except I have security update install automatically.

Widgets are icons that you can add to your panel bar. I use Muon to access the repository. Mine is set to install security updates with out confirmation.
