    Transparent Icon?

Taking my first wack at a 64 bit system and have installed 16.04 just today. (fresh download)
I've not seen this situation before and I can't seem to fond a button to push in the settings to fix it.

I always download things to the desk top (it's handy) and I store pictures there that I plan to use frequently.

Something I have done is making my icon of a jpg file transparent. Not a big deal but I don't want it to be that way.
What do I look for that has to do with transparent icons?
I'm using "Old Oxygen" by the way.

    Thanks
    Greg
