    Kwallet problems after 14.04 - 16.04 upgrade

The upgrade ostensibly went without issue (chose sddm when prompted, lightdm had been in use before). However, on logging on after reboot Kwallet prompts for password as normal and accepts what is entered, however it shows no wallet contents / provides no value to the WiFi connection.

On opening the wallet manager, closing the wallet and then attempting to reopen it, it will then not accept the password, giving a code 9.

Any ideas please? The above behaviour seems odd and persists across another reboot, it accepts the password initially, only to fail it on a second attempt.

Edit - just noticed the first window which accepts the wallet password is titled kwallet migration, but it does nothing after password is entered

Edit2 - Right, so the wallet attempts to migrate the passwords to ~./local/share/kwalletd/kwallet.kwl ? but I guess it fails as the resulting file is only 60 bytes. The original file in ~./kde/share/apps/kwallet/kwallet.kwl is 18420 bytes. So how to proceed?

On downloading the kwalletmanager package from trusty, and extracting the binary, upon execution it displays the open wallet along with it's full contents. So the issue does seem to be with the migration tool migrating the contents to the new wallet version. The wallet manager extracted from trusty doesn't seem to have an export to xml option. So still at a loss as to how to resolve

Right. Resolved it by looking at this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351056 Turns out the migration doesn't actually do squat unless the following is set

If the migration wizard is needed, then add this to kwalletrc [Migration] showMigrationWizard=true
For avoidance of doubt, that's the new ~/.config/kwalletrc The migration wizard will now appear on login and migrate the KDE4 to KDE5 wallet. Bit saddened this non obviousness is the case in an LTS upgrade, but at least no data is lost.

Thanks for that. I am dependent on kwallet, it is my password keeper. I had the migration trouble, but I was able to boot 14.04 from an old install and export to XML.
