    SMB Directory sharing from Dolphin....

    Hi all,
This is my first post and I apologize if my question has been answered elsewhere; though my queries of the board and Internet in general have proven to be fruitless. [MODS - IF THIS IS IN THE WRONG SECTION PLEASE RELOCATE IT ACCORDINGLY] First off I'd like to provide some background; the machine being referenced here is the workstation that I use to do pretty much everything with from simple web browsing to Arduino development to the administration of my 2 rackmount servers(XENServer 6.5) and my managed switch. I am a user coming from LinuxMINT(KDE), where the option to share a directory was readily presented in the "Dolphin" "Properties" dialog. Ever since my switch to Kubuntu, with which I have been generally very pleased with, I have noticed that the aforementioned sharing option in the "Dolphin" "Properties" dialog no longer exists. My questions are: Is there a way to "re-enable" the above functionality in Dolphin? If not; Is there a KDE PLASMA compatible SAMBA configuration GUI?

I frequently like to share directories and after a transfer is completed I "un-share" them. While I am fairly well accustomed to manually editing the smb.conf file, especially in my server applications, I hardly do it often enough to have memorized all of the syntax. With the aforementioned being the case I am often forced to consult the documentation for uncommon or complex configurations. If anybody knows of a way to make Dolphin function as it used to in regard to SMB shares or a decent SMB GUI alternative your input would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks,
    s3c

*** Just a note: I am aware of how to comment a file as to be able to reuse a previous entry. I'm simply seeking a quick and easy "point and click" solution. I know many have existed in the past but from what I can tell they seem far and few between today. Also if any such similar solution exists for NFS I would love to hear about it! Again THANKS EVERYONE!!!***

    Welcome s3cz0ne to Kubuntu Forums.

Try the system-config-samba package. It is an excellent gui for samba shares.

Well for me, I have never configured anything client-side that I can recall.

In Dolphin - I just click on Network, Samba Shares, Workgroup, my server, and when asked; enter the username and password. I can even add it to the Places menu from there so it's available next time without drilling down through the menus.

If you mean sharing a folder FROM Dolphin using samba, then what Rod said, plus this tidbit:

It seems there's a bug in the system-config-samba package. Bug report says:

Working perfectly after manually created file:libuser.conf in folder /etc. (ubuntu 15.04)

        Command for this:

        sudo touch /etc/libuser.conf
