    Alt Key Seems Stuck

When using Kubuntu 14.04, it seems like the alt key gets stuck.
This usually happens after waking up and pressing some keys
The mouse is still functional but whenever I try and drag something I end up dragging the whole window, also typing is not possible
    Pressing Ctrl+Alt+F6 then Ctrl+Alt+F7 doesn't fix it.
    In a tty running
    DISPLAY=:0 kwin --replace
    Doesn't fix it

Using xdotool to sending keyup events doesn't fix it either

The only work around is to reboot, which is far from ideal

    Can anyone help?

Does a reboot always 'fix' the issue?

usually happens after waking up and pressing some keys
Take careful note of the "some keys" you pressed the next time this happens are report back.

      Snowhog, thanks for the reply
Well after the reboot everything is reset so yes it's fine, however something is clearly wrong.
I caused my issue when I unplugged the external keyboard and plugged it back in

Dell laptop with a Mac keyboard
      I have 2 keyboard profiles

I did run xev from a tty when it happened and there was lots of output, I did try forcing through an alt key up event using xdotool and linux rebooted, so maybe it's a key mapping issue.

A long shot, but "desktop effects" glitches have behaved a bit like that in the past. If it happens, try turning off desktop effects, the default key press is Alt+Shift+F12 I think. If that makes it go away, you could then start disabling effects to track down which one it is.

          jlittle thanks for your reply,
I had a quick play with that a few days ago, I tried disabling the spread zoom out windows effect.
I might try disabling ALL and see if that helps.

I had another issue with the Nvidia drivers tearing and causing horrible perfomrance, I disabled them and am using Nuview for now.
