Installed Kubuntu today, although I have used Linux since 2004 and Ubuntu based distributions since late 2007. I used KDE with Mandrake before I switched to Ubuntu when I became a beta tester for it at work.
Is there a way to get the screensaver to show random pictures from the Pictures folder for a selected period of time without any particular special effects? Right now it uses a random special effect to load each image and it scrambles the time each picture is up, sometimes starting to load a new picture before the current one even finishes loading. The setup has fewer options now than xsceensaver had with Xubuntu, or KDE had with 3.x six years ago.
Is this a known bug? Is there some third party application I can install to do this instead? There have been functional screensavers in desktop PC's since Windows 3.1 was the standard. Why has this suddenly become a struggle in the last few years?
