All videos have a green hue that cannot be adjusted

Ever since I switched to 13.04 all videos, embedded in a website or directly played from my laptop, show a ghostly green hue. The false colors cannot be adjusted using the standard methods.
Videos that are embedded in a website show the green hue regardless of which browser is used to view them.

Is this a driver problem and, if yes, which driver needs to be updated or replaced? I am not using any nvidia drivers.

Right Click the video > Settings > Disable Hardware Acceleration. Exit the browser and any other flash related stuff then try again. A green hue is something new, I'm used to hearing about blue tint.

Thank you for the suggestion. I attempted to find 'Hardware Acceleration' on DragonPlayer.
No such thing. Could not find it in Settings Overview either.

Where should I look for the tab 'Disable Hardware Acceleration", please?

Since Firefox also suffers from the 'green flu' I looked at ways to fix it there. Here is the result of a diagnostic test:

      " Graphics
Adapter DescriptionGLXtest process failed: No visuals found
GPU Accelerated Windows0/1 Basic Blocked for your graphics driver version. Try updating your graphics driver to version <Anything with EXT_texture_from_pixmap support> or newer.WebGL RendererBlocked for your graphics card because of unresolved driver issues.

      AzureCanvasBackend cairo
      AzureContentBackend none
      AzureFallbackCanvasBackend none"

doesn't it look like I need a graphics driver update?
      My laptop:

Well that is a fairly terrible GPU which also happens to hardly be supported on Linux at all. Anyways, if memory serves me right then follow this. Settings > Desktop Effects > advanced > Composting type > XRender

Also you need to disable the blur effect. Try that, log out, log in and report back. P.S. You might get a few odd warnings when you change the composting type, just ignore them.

Well, what can you expect from a $ 20.00 laptop!
So far it has served me well.

              Followed your suggestions.
              XRender was already there.
              Removed blur.

DragonPlayer does not want to play my cell phone videos without some additional downloads.
My own slide show played quite well - except that now the green colors were way to intense. But that can be adjusted, I guess because there was a reaction to such attempts.
Paypal promotional video still green tint.

              So, it sort of worked.

I'll try another vidoe player. But thast does not resolve the greenish embedded website videos.

Yeah, you should try vlc. By the way, to get Dragon Player working run
                Code:
                sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras
Now that green tint still existing bugs me. The only thing I can think of is VVAPI being an issue. Unfortunately I don't really know how to fix that. There might be an xorg.conf setting to play with that might fix your issue but that is out of my depth.

I found that yesterday and installed the restricted-extras.
                  Also installed VLC. Removed Dragonplayer.

VLC has (almost) normal colors, but the video plays much enlarged and therefore pixelated.
I'll keep on looking for a solution.
Thank you so much for your assistance.

Screenshot of the pixelation please. Its possible that the video is just low quality.

It was taken with my cell phone. But the green tint is also present in videos or even on some pictures on yahoo.com or even paypal.

I found this command: sudo X :1 -configure

I will have to get that one from 13.10.
13.04 now appears to let VLC play the cell phone videos in almost correct colors.
Do not know what fixed it, because:

                        1. updated BIOS
                        2. installed latest OS updates.
                        3. tampered a little with the VLC color settings.

I will check it now in 13.10.

Here is a screenshot of one of the video pictures.

Most of the videos now play in near original color except for a few that show a pattern like the one in the attached video picture.
However, most graphic content in Firefox still has the greenish hue - whether sill photo, vidoe or graphics.

I honestly have no clue how to help. You are running one of the worst GPUs ever made and its never had great Linux support. You might want to try the i915 gallium driver.

This problem arose just recently with one of the most recent updates.

This is how it looks on Firefox:

I will see what I can do regarding the driver you suggested or some other driver.
