Just Bravo.
a) The live DVD was able to actually hook up to my password protected NetGear wireless router.
b) The login screen is VERY professional, looks as if I can apply an image and provides, out of the box the ability to add another user. VERY well done.
c) Kontact works, although I have not actually did a "test" of recurring dates yet because I wanted to bask in the glory of the calendar working.
i) I went to Akonadai and there were all three of the requisite tools for hooking to Google IMAP, Google Calendar and Google contacts.
ii) the Akonadai hookup to Google mail IMAP was straightforward, as it has always been.
iii) Both Google calendar and Google contacts NOW sport a brand new interactive page in which one goes directly to Google and signs in for the two items and there is a very nice splash around the screen that describes how it is Akonadai that is doing the work and you are merely entering your user name and password.
Akonadai has finally arrived! (for as long as Google wants it to arrive! lol ), Yes, it does, indeed, seem that Akonadai is finally doing what people said it would.
KUDOS to whoever accomplished this, the Akonadai devs, the KDE devs, the Kubuntu devs, I do not know, but bravo!.
I think this release really could go onto a tablet and work!
