The Built in Terminal Emulator in Kate not available

    GHi,

Kate (KDE Editor) would have a "The Built in Terminal Emulator" available, the help says it would be under View - Tool Views - Terminal Emulator but on my install there's no Terminal emulator available but only "Show Sidebars" and "Show Documents". Why am I missing ther Terminal My Kte version is 3.8.5 and this is on KDE 4.8.5

Thank you for assistance on this!

Have you logged out and in/rebooted since you upgraded to 4.9.2? Often after upgrades in KDE is wonky till a log-out and log-in.

By the terminal is at the bottom of the window, not the side like say Documents.

Oh, yeah! I sure have logged off and back on since the last bigger update!
I know that the terminal would show up on the bottom but i can't enable it...

Consider upgrading KDE to 4.9.2. Here, Kate has the option (12.04, KDE 4.9.2)

Does it work for a new user? <I suggest this far to often >

I'm not necessarily a "new" user (after 5+ years Kubuntu) but would I get the update through apt-get? with dist-upgrade?

I think james147 meant for you to try it under a newly created user account on your machine.

Probably a silly question, but is the Terminal Tool View plugin enabled in Kate? (Settings -> Configure Kate -> Plugins)

No it wasn't enabled and that was actually it!

                        Thank you!

                          Glad I could help

BTW - would you mind marking the thread as solved? You should be able to do that using the Thread Tools menu at the top of this page.
