Until today I was using what I thought was the latest version of kfilebox, (kfilebox-0.4.7). I found a version kfilebox-0.4.8 on this page.
Notice the date it was uploaded... strange.
Since using kfilebox-0.4.8 I no longer get the error pop-up(s) on start up and it appears to better integrate with the dropbox features and preferences.
