Imagemagick in 11.10

I'm trying to do a simple -format jpg *.png and get the following error. Gwenview doesn't work either. This is a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.10.

mogrify: magick/splay-tree.c:880: GetValueFromSplayTree: Assertion `splay_tree != (SplayTreeInfo *) ((void *)0)' failed.
/home/dick/bin/png2jpg: line 6: 3144 Aborted mogrify -format jpg *.png


Anyone else having problems?

UPDATE: imagemagick still fails, but graphicmagick works perfectly.
