[RESOLVED] Can not start Kontact without Kmail in Oneiric

Since I installed Oneiric yesterday, I can not start Kontact. I do NOT want to use or configure Kmail.

How to avoid Kmail? (I use Thunderbird.)

You'll have to tell Kontact after it has launched that you don't want to run Kmail -- Settings > Configure Kontact... and uncheck Mail

I'd love to, but the first thing it displays is the warning

"KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now.
The error was:
Failed to fetch the resource collection."

at the SAME TIME as the demand to "Provide personal data" for Kmail (which I do not want to give) and when I click on "OK", Kontact disappears. I provided the mail data anyway, then restarted it and got the same message. What the dickens is a "resource collection"? And what does it want with Wallet, another application I do not see any need for.?

check to see if you have the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail2/mail

the prob most have had is that the directory "mail" dosent exist......so make it

mkdir ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail2/mail

and then relaunch Kontact and disable mail as @Snowhog suggested

Aaa yes sorry you must also point the Akonaditray app to the folder you just made ........I am doing to much at once today.

thare is a tread about this hear somewhere..... (2 busy to find it right now but it's only a day or 2 old so it shouldn't be 2 hard to find.)

Ok, I will look at that tomorrow. I do wish, tho, that a calendar/address-book application could be a little simpler.

Thanks a lot, Vinny. No. 10 did it for me too.

Now I have another pb. I cannot import my ldif or ical data. But I will make another thread for that.
