My laptop has an ATI Radeon video card. In the past, it has been quick to overheat until I install the Catalyst driver, which includes power management. But my last Kubuntu installation got trashed and now I'm trying to install anew. I can't complete the install, because my laptop overheats and goes into thermal shutdown before the install completes. I have tried letting the laptop cool down completely before starting the install, but this doesn't buy me enough time. Are there any bright ideas on how I can complete an install before my laptop shuts down? Or (less likely) is there some way to have Catalyst running from he live CD?

Hi....
Along with what Snowhog has said, I'm wondering if your system needs the heatsinks cleaned out.
