I've just upgraded from 11.04. During the upgrade, around the last stage I've got message that the upgrade process failed, returning exit code 1 and the system will try to rollback. At this stage, I already lost my mobile broadband internet connection (which is used to download the packages during upgrade process), though my modem is still recognized. I was guessing that this what makes the upgrade failed to complete, but I'm not sure. So I rebooted, and nothing seems to be rolled back. I got 11.10 installed. First thing I checked was the internet connection. When I ticked "enable mobile broadband", my modem status changed to "preparing to connect" as usual, only this time it doesn't end up in "connected", it stays "preparing to connect" for around 10 minutes then get back to "not connected". Please help me solve this problem.

Re: Mobile broadband internet can no longer connect after upgrade
OK, I've managed it to connect with wvdial (the only annoyance is that I must connect manually everytime I turn on the computer, but that could easily be cured with system settings' autostart feature). I wonder what's wrong with the default network manager... could it be made to connect with the same configuration values as wvdial?

Re: Mobile broadband internet can no longer connect after upgrade
And what does 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' tell you, have you completed the upgrades?

Re: Mobile broadband internet can no longer connect after upgrade
I had the same initial problem - load up 11.10, problem, but it loads, etc.
What happens now is that discovering a wireless network is VERY slow - can take up to 30 mins to acknowledge that anything is there. Once I can connect everything is fine.
I checked to make sure everything was in fact loaded (apt-get etc.), and yes, all is fine.

I have seen several similar posts on forums, but no-one seems to have posted a solution!Regards, Andrew
Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot (Linux 3.0.0.12-generic, KDE SC version 4.7.2)
Asus EeePC 1000HE (Atheros AR9K)
