    Replace ATI card with nVidia

I have tried to replace my card. Got out the old ATI and put in the nVidia card. I installed the driver and rebooted. Then I got the startup screens, but just before I got to login, the screen jumped to terminal mode. What have I done wrong? Should I uninstalled the radeon driver before I installed the nVidia driver or what?

Please give me a hint on this problem.

When I moved a Kubuntu install from a ThinkPad T410 with nVidia graphics to a T520 with Intel graphics, I noticed the same problem you did. So in terminal mode I purged all nVidia-related drivers, installed Intel drivers, and rebooted. Then it worked fine.

      Hi Dag....

To expand on what Steve has said, if you were using the ATI proprietary "fglrx" driver, here are instructions to go about removing it. Scroll down to "Problem: Need to purge -fglrx" and follow the instructions given.

      Regards...
