Installing Laserjet 4 to Kubuntu 11.4 64 bit

In a previous post I noted an problem installing a jetdirect (fixed-address) Laserjet 4 as a "new Printer". Further investigation disclosed that the printer was showing the message "invalid pers" and was apparently expecting a Postscript printer, as called for by the driver "recommended" during the install. Redoing the install but choosing the other listed CUPS driver (the second on the drop-down list) solved the problem. I suggest that someone should change the existing Kubuntu 11.4 download so that the Postscript Laserjet 4 is not the recommended driver.

i think that the 4p is older then post script. but since that driver (iirc) covers the entire 4 series that might be why the postscript driver is recommended, next time we get a 4p in the shop ill have to see what i can do to find out further.
