Is there anyway to set that all windows open on my left (primary) monitor? some screens do, then sometimes they decided to open to the right, never seems to be rhyme or reason and its very annoying.

The only obvious setting is in System Settings> Display and Monitor> Display Unmanaged windows on...
This does not preclude Managed windows from opening elsewhere - whatever that means :P
Nvidia-settings also has a setting for this if you're using dynamic twinview.
On my dual screen nvidia setup they seem to appear on the active screen mostly, i.e. the desktop I last used.
