    Muon

Hello...I would like to know what should I do to remove KPackageKit and replace it with Muon....I barely use KPackageKit, I use Synaptic instead, but Muon I am really liking so I would like to make it the default....is there any way this can be done in Natty?

    Re: Muon

You could have as many package managers as you want to.

Earlier (*) > Topic: Changing defaults: Removing KPackageKit

I would like to know what should I do to remove KPackageKit and replace it with Muon
    Hmm - removing is easy:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get purge kpackagekit packagekit packagekit-backend-aptcc libpackagekit-qt-14 libpackagekit-glib2-14 python-packagekit
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
Virtual packages like 'libpackagekit-qt-14' can't be removed
The following packages will be REMOVED:
    gstreamer0.10-packagekit* kpackagekit* libpackagekit-glib2-14* packagekit* packagekit-backend-aptcc*
    python-packagekit*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 6 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 3,699 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
    Muon installation is easy (**):
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install muon
so I would like to make it the default.
What do you mean the "default" ?

The Muon should show the notification (not used at here) and offer the update option.

(*) Default at this is installed as default. The KPackagekit is recommended (=installed) by the kubuntu-desktop metapackage.

    Code:
    apt-cache show kubuntu-desktop
    Package: kubuntu-desktop
    Priority: optional
    Section: metapackages
    ...
    Recommends:...korganizer, kpackagekit, kpat,...
    ...
    Description: Kubuntu Plasma Desktop/Netbook system
This package depends on all of the packages in the Kubuntu desktop system.
Installing this package will include the default Kubuntu Plasma Desktop or
    Netbook installation.
    .
It is safe to remove this package if some of the desktop system packages are
    not desired.

(**) Muon Package Manager: 1.1.80 "Caustic Carrionite", There is also the "muon-installer" = (Muon) Software Center. I have the beta version from the PPA > Jonathan's Blog.
