Share kmail mailbox between different machines

I have 3 machines, a small laptop, a larger laptop, and a desktop, all running different versions of kubuntu; 11.4, 10.4LTS, and 9.10 respectively.

I would like to share the mail box (Imap, kmail) on DropBox (or another shared disk).
I tried to move (the 11.4) ~/kde/share/apps/kmail to DropBox and replace it by a symbolic on all the machines, but it did not work.

The inbox and the account did not seem to be available for the other machines. However, the archive folders seem to be shared ok.

Anyone knows how to do this right?

Well, you could use imap protocol!
In this way you can share your email even if you aren't with one of your laptop
