Puzzling message from KDE sound system

Last night I left my laptop on. This morning I came back to find this message from the KDE sound system:

This is the list of devices KDE thinks can be removed:

    - Capture: Playback/Recording through the PulseAudio sound server

    - Output: Playback/Recording throught the PulseAudio sound server

(checkbox) Do not ask again for these devices

Yes / No / Manage Devices
I've seen this quite a few times before, with different devices. The message raises a number of questions:

    1. Why am I getting it at all?

    2. Should I tell KDE to remove the devices?

    3. What happens if I tell KDE not to ask again for these devices? When would that be the right/wrong choice?

What might be relevant is that I have a USB turntable and plug/unplug it from time to time. However, I didn't do that last night.

Re: Puzzling message from KDE sound system

    Hi PW
I'm not a Linuxy kinda coder guy and I'm sure that someone much more expert than I will be along shortly to tell you exactly what is going on, but it seems to me that it might be KDE's "version" of a terminal message after you have done something that says you have some out dated or unused packages and can do apt-get remove to remove them.

HOWEVER, since you said that you use your turntable once in a while it might, indeed use them and kind of like sometimes you remove a package like the "game package" and it pulls a lot of other stuff with it...so...if there does not seem to be a "conflict" then maybe just leave them, unless you are running a very small hard drive and are tied up for space...

Since I'm just a hardware/apps kinda guy I'd wait for a real expert to come along but just some thoughts.

      Nothing is outdated

I'm getting this message in a newly installed Natty system, so nothing is outdated. Pulseaudio in particular is completely up to date. Sometimes I get this message referring to the drivers such as the USB codec. It's a repeated situation.
