    Upgrade to 11.04

I upgraded from 10.04 last evening and received an error. The error was "unknown". I rebooted and since doing that, I get a login banner but the keyboard and mouse do not work. Caps lock does not turn the light one. I can boot from the 11.04 disk and everything works fine. In fact, I have booted from the disk and mounted the drive. I did a chroot on /mnt and found that apt-get check found about 30 broken dependences. I did apt-get -f install and fixed that hoping my problem would be resolved. How can I repair the damage that was done? Can I use apt-get to roll back.

    Any help is appreciated...

I'm looking at /var/log/history.log and see the error:
Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Same error from last night and today when I did apt-get -f install.

Looking at /var/log/messages, I see no errors related to when the machine boots up. By the way, this is a Dell Inspiron desktop. It is about a year old.
