Just upgraded to 11.10 and now it will no longer boot/How to roll it back?

    Hello,

I run Kubuntu in virtual box. I saw there was an update for 11.10 so I ran the upgrade from inside the os and now it won't boot. I just see the kubuntu boot screen with the 5 blue dots.

I can login to recovery mode. But I am a newb and not sure where to start.

Is the gui broken? Do I need to re-install kde?

Is there a way to roll back the 11.10 update?

    Thanks!

K I tried that command and got 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. I will play with the jockey-kde and let you know if that helps.

    I do get the error:

initctl event failed when I try to resume a normal boot.

Getting a bit closer. When I type startx I get the message:

Failed to load module "vboxvideo" no drivers available

So I think I need to reinstall the virtualbox guest additions.

Reinstall of the virtualbox drivers fixed it.

It's to bad the Kubuntu load just hung, didn't tell me what was missing, but I guess it was pretty easy to figure it out by trying to manually start kdm.

        Thanks for your help!
