Konsole Problem

I have connected Internet through Ethernet with proxy connection . All browsing & internet thing is working in the rekonq & mozilla firefox browser . all installation from Kpackagekit is working fine .But from KONSOLE nothing is working like "sudo apt-get update" or sudo apt-get install packagename .
please help any help .

I am working with Kubuntu 11.04 Natty .

I think we need more info to be able to help .....

What exactly happens when you type sudo apt-get update
Are you able to get a directory listing with ls -l
Can you cd to other directories

have you gone into system settings to edit the proxy settings for the system?

Also apt itself may need to have its own settings edited
