[SOLVED] USB Audio Device Not Working

    Hi,

I have a Philips SPA5210 notebook soundbar plugged into my laptop (USB).

In Select Master Channel it is available for selection, but when I choose it, the audio still comes out of my laptop and not the sound bar. Only difference is that the volume can't be adjusted.

The device works fine in Ubuntu 11.04 and Linux Mint 11. Can anyone help?

I don't know that hardware at all, but you might try installing paman, padevchooser, and pavucontrol. Then open pavucontrol, and choose a configuration that makes sense from the choices on the list, then in "Output Devices" see if your device shows up, and make sure it is unmuted. Mute the other one, set your selected device as "fallback device", move the volume slider up.

I have a similar situation with an audio mic -- first I have to set "front mic" and "front mic boost" in alsamixergui, then I have to slide up the volume in pavucontrol, then it works fine for skype or ekiga.

Also you should confirm that the snd_usb_audio module is loaded, with "lsmod".
