    Touchpad not working

    Hi,
Tried out natty alpha 3 live cd on my hp pavillion dm4 1150ea. My touchpad is not working right, i can left tap, but the right click just wont work. Its one of those new touchpads, no buttons all surface area, hp call it
"HP Clickpad supporting Multi-Touch gestures with On/Off button".

Should i report this issue somewhere else?

    Hope it gets fixed:

Did this work correctly in 10.10?

Have you looked in System Settings for any configuration options to try? It might also show if it is detected properly or not in there.

Also, have you updated the os since? There could be fixes since A3.

Bugs like this should be reported on launchpad

      Re: Touchpad not working

      Hi,
Its a new laptop only 3 days old, so i have only used the live CD so i cant update the system. I did try seeing the options in system settings but the option to enable "right click" was greyed out for me. Since i only want to install a fresh Kubuntu 11.04 on the machine i cant really test it out much.

you can test for any changes (this seems to be involving multitouch, which is a fairly recent addition to linux) by trying out newer daily-live-cdhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/582809
        http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/ for kubuntu
        http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ for Ubuntu
Unless there is anyone who has had multitouch working that can give advice, I don't know what else to try, searching brings up many more problems than solutions, though

          Re: Touchpad not working

Well speaking personally, using an HP G62 laptop, all touchpad functions including multitouch, configurable touchpad corners, 2 finger scrolling etc all works perfectly so maybe related to the driver for your particular hardware?

The only fault I have is that I set the touchpad to be turned off on startup but it always turns itself on anyway and the option to disable touchpad when a mouse is plugged works sometimes and not others.

Actually, I just went to check again and I no longer have any options for disabling touchpad and the tray icon for configuring is no longer there.

Seems maybe a change in the packages involved so maybe that has something to do with the OP's problem?
