video monitor/dual?

Got a problem/question. I have a nvidia 9800gtx with 2 dvi connectors, one of the dvi is running my local monitor the other dvi i have connected to my big screen on hdmi2 via a dvi/hdmi cable (use the computer speaker for sound) . How does one go about enabling dual monitor (one being the big screen so that I can watch downloaded movies, streaming ballgames on the big screen? Tried system setting and display but dont have an option to enable dual monitor even when re booting with the dual dvi connected. I can watch ccomputer on the big screen by turning off the local monitor and re-booting on hdmi 2, so hardware all works the software is my problem I think. It works with on device only.

Took a look at them the big screen he is shown as disabled. I enabled it as twinview ( it think that is what i want) but didnt know how to respond to the next screen?

I got it working on twin, but could not save the configuration. Oh well progress at least.

Nvidia-settings will save settings to your user under your home as .nvidia-settings-rc.

If you have the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf and want to save your settings there, you must start nvidia-settings as super user - open a terminal and type sudo nvidia-settings and it will then let you overwrite the xorg.conf file.

The difference is xorg.conf affects all users and .nvidia-settings-rc affects only your user.
