Direct rendeing is not available - Vmware workstation

I'm trying to enable Direct Rendering support for VMware Workstation 7.1.3....

When I start up Windows in VMware on my kubuntu 10.10 system it gives me the error saying direct rendeing is not available but its enabled on the system:

enkrypt3d@Glitch:~$ sudo glxinfo | grep direct
    direct rendering: Yes
    GL_ARB_draw_buffers_blend, GL_ARB_draw_indirect,
    GL_EXT_Cg_shader, GL_EXT_depth_bounds_test, GL_EXT_direct_state_access,

I have the latest 260 nvidia drivers with a GTX 480 video card... everything else runs great - if I could only get this working that would be awesome! Thanks!

In VB, such a thing isn't possible to my knowledge because you are using a virtual video card.
    Home: Kubuntu 12.04-amd64; Intel i7-860 on Intel DH55PJ; Nvidia 9500GT; 6GB RAM
Network Slave: Xubuntu 11.10-x86; Intel P4-Prescott on MSI; 2GB RAM; Nvidia FX5200
Portable: Xubuntu 11.10-amd64; Asus EeePC 1015PEM

The OP isn't using VirtualBox - he's using VMware Workstation 7.1.3.... That said, Oracle's VirtualBox 4.0, with Guest Additions installed "contain experimental hardware 3D support for Windows, Linux and Solaris guests."

See Hardware 3D acceleration (OpenGL and Direct3D 8/9)

I'm running Oracle's VirtualBox 4.0 and have Guest Additions installed. I am allowed to enable 3D within the VM that I have created (Ubuntu 10.10).
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
