[Solved] CPU is being scaled down to 1GHz on my desktop

Hi all. I just installed Kubuntu Maverick Meerkat on my desktop with an Athlon 64 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. I have disabled the power saver utility in the Control Center, but my CPU is still being scaled down to 1GHz. I can't find any other installed programs which would cause this, so my question is, what is doing it, and how can I stop it? Thanks in advance. Ben

Thanks clibl, I'll give that a try when I next boot back into Kubuntu Maverick. I'm running my old stand-by RevLinuxOS at the moment. Ben

That appears to have fixed it! Thanks clibl. I opened a terminal and input the first cli command:

solid-powermanagement query cpufreq

This displayed the available settings:

ondemand
userspace
powersave
performance
conservative

I then input the second cli command:

solid-powermanagement set cpufreq performance

Instantly, my cpu was happily chugging away at full-speed, 2.2 GHz. Now I'm off to reboot, just to make sure the setting survives a reboot. Thanks again, clibl. Ben
