    Where is the update notifier?

    here's my problem: after upgrading to 9.10 i never had any indications of updates by tray icon. so i had to check for them manually. i decided now that an update to 10.04 would be maybe the solution to this. but...being connected to intenet doesn't help, coz i still don't get indication of new release. even typing update-notifier-kde -u doesn't do a thing. i turned to CD but again...nothing. i was able to mount it to source list. but running kdesudo "/media/cdrom/cdromupgrade" doesn't even start my CDdrive...i'm fed up with re-installing the system over and over again. this would be my 7th time. i guess it's back to Windows....

    With the Kubuntu 9.10, at here:

    ...even typing update-notifier-kde -u doesn't do a thing...
    Typing to where ? (KRunner - Run Command dialog)
    Have you tried with the Konsole ?
    What was the feedback ? (with the Konsole)

      Yep.

      or ....

      You could open a terminal and
      Code:
      sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get clean

      I don't know -- that is an awful lot of typing, isn't it?

        somehow i managed...turned out, my notifier was missing completely (weird, as i would never uninstall this). so i installed it. i still had to upgrade from the net though, couldn't get any updates from CD.
        since the upgrade i'm even able to use default Network manager using Huawei bundle... hallelujah
