On the Asus EeePC 900A, I've installed (and tinkered with) Kubuntu 10.04 for a few weeks, mostly seeking to rip out nepomuk and add KDE themes. Ultimately, I now get a crash report for every time KDE Policy kit1 is run. The policy kit is definitely run at every login, it crashes, and so every time I log in, I get a KDE crash report dialog that offers restart the application. Every time I click restart in that dialog box, that click causes the first crash dialog to close, but a new crash dialog appears immediately. I do not want to report the bug (well, I would be happy to report the crash if I could remain anonymous), so now what? I do not use forcing when I uninstall things (I use command-line APT only to remove kernel stuff, otherwise I only use Synaptic). I don't recall seeing a message saying anything would break, and I've reinstalled polkit-kde-1, but no changes seen. As a last resort, I could just reinstall the whole of the OS (been known to do so in the past), but this could reoccur, and reinstalling isn't what I'd like to do here.

BTW: the eee-applet does nothing but request my password 3 times for every change, and then no changes are noted as a result. Maybe it is trying to use the policy kit that fails?
