I've installed Kubuntu 10.04 on an old PC with an Intel 845 series motherboard, using an on-board graphics solution. By default, it boots with an 800x600 (85Hz) screen resolution. When I change the resolution to 1024x768 (60Hz) , the resolution switches perfectly, but the mouse pointer disappears. The mouse can still be USED, but I have to 'guess' where the pointer is. I have a CRT monitor. On rebooting, the resolution returns to 800x600. Ubuntu 10.04 and Lubuntu 10.04 suffer from the same problem. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks.
