No sound, driver needed for Thinkpad A20m

Ok i decided to install Kubuntu on an old Pentium 3 laptop for my mother. it's a IBM Thinkpad A20m. Kubuntu seem to run fine, a little slow at start, but it's ok, can go on internet with the wireless adapter

But then i found that there's no sound. Probably because there's no driver for the built-in audio chip.

Can someone tell me where i could find AND install a working driver for this laptop please?

    thank you!

humm what audio chip dose it have?

I had Kubuntu runing on a T serese thinkpad not to long ago...................and sound was fine.

have you checked in Kmix to see if all your chanels ar showing and up.

click the speeker icon in he system tray and click mixer then setings>configure chanels.......if thare are eney in the avalabel chanels window drag them to the avalabel window then make shure none are muted and all are turned up.

It's possible that you MAY have to reconfigure Kmix (note my total lack of certainty about this suggestion).

*Left click on the little loudspeaker icon in the system tray.
*Left click "mixer" > "settings" > "configure channels"
*Make sure that the audio channels that you want to control are visible: (drag them from the left column to the right column)

ok i think i fixed it. It seem to work, but Amarok doesn't, strangely.

the sound DOES work in the preview and in Kaffeine. Though Kaffeine doesn't let me go to the next or previous track on the audio CD...and i can't open wav, flac, ogg files in it. So only mp3 seem to work fine.
