Does anyone know the username / password to login, when using the livecd?.

Don't hold me to it, but I think the UN is ubuntu and the PW is blank (enter nothing in the PW field, just click the log in button after typing in UN).

There shouldn't be one. Running a LiveCD creates a special user account that neither prompts for or requires that you provide a user name or password. When you need to do something that normally would require root access, you already have it.
