    KRename KF5

    krename in kdereview: https://marc.info/?l=kde-core-devel&...3978702948&w=2

...krename was moved to kdereview today.

It's a batch renamer started outside of KDE and its infrastructure but
it was kind of abandoned and I got the ok the from the original author
    to move it to git.kde.org.

The code can be found at kde:krename.

    The intended target should be
    extragear-or-whatever-that-thing-missing-a-proper-name-is/utils

Considering KDELibs4 reached the end of its life-cycle, I'd like to
release a beta version soon after krename passes review.

Cool, I'm glad it's getting some support. It's a very handy utility. I've used it a number of times inside Krusader.
Desktop PC: Intel Core-i5-4670 3.40Ghz, 16Gb Crucial ram, Asus H97-Plus MB, 128Gb Crucial SSD + 2Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 HDD running Kubuntu 18.04 LTS and Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (on SSD).
Laptop: HP EliteBook 8460p Core-i5-2540M, 4Gb ram, Transcend 120Gb SSD, currently running Deepin 15.8 and Manjaro KDE 18.

        List: kde-announce-apps
Subject: krename 4.90.90 (aka 5.0 beta) released

        krename 4.90.90 has been released.

This is the first release ported to Qt5/KF5 and also the first through
KDE infrastructure. There are only small changes besides the porting and
        some code clean-ups...

I didn't know about it either. I noticed that the KDE4 version is in the Neon repository.
I've seen so many new tools and command usages lately that I beginning to feel like a Linux novice.

Same here so downloaded the tar but I'm missing too many of the cmake modules and tracking which ones those are taking me a while.

EDIT: stupid me should have read the dependencies section they had.

EDIT_2: Simple test of it and all runs very smoothly and intuitive interface. Probably not different much from original but never used since didn't now about it. This is a tool I'll definitely keep.

Stupid question. How can I turn this into a DEB package so I can move to other systems? Read some articles on cpack but they weren't total clear. At least to me they weren't.

EDIT: disregard. Found this link helpful. https://cmake.org/Wiki/CMake:Packaging_With_CPack

The kf5 version is in the repos now, at least for neon and bionic
