Using the keyboard in Kubuntu (it doesn't work)

Hi everyone,

I've just installed Kubunto on my pc, the installation went alright but I can't login for some reason. The Kubunto login window opens normally and the mouse is working fine but when i press a key on the keyboard the resolution changes. Using the mouse i switched to the console and logging in using the console works fine but when i'm logged in the problem still exists.
I tried to login with another keyboard as well but it doesn't help a lot, the mouse and keyboard are both PS/2.

I hope anyone can help me,

Edit: I just noticed that the keypad is working when i have numlock on.

I had the same problem when installing on a newly built box using a Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G motherboard. I tried another PS/2 keybout without success and eventually changed to an USB keyboard which works normally
