How Do I Install a Printer

I just bought a Samsung ML-2510 because it is supposed to support Linux.
The CD has a Linux directory, but I can't figure out how to install it. Apparently there is supposed to be an auto install feature, but I can't figure out what to run
aanyone have experience that can help me?

    You again ... :P

For starters, a listing of this ominous directory's contents should help us getting your idea:

    Code:
    ls -l /[directory]
    - In reference to the specified printer: further reading, by courtesy of Linux @ Google

Hello again, my own personal guru
I did try that search, and tried using the 2150 driver suggested in the CUPS at localhost:631. It installs and says it sends test pages successfully, but nothing ever prints.
Here is the contents of the Linux folder on the CD:
      total 94
      check_installation.sh
      i386
      Installer.htm
      install.sh
      noarch
      OEM.ini
      set_variables.sh
      smartpanel
      uninstall.sh
      x86_64
And, if my deduction is correct, the contents of the i386 folder:
      at_opt
      at_root
      install
      lib
      share

And, I think the next one should be the install folder:
      guiinstall
      guiuninstall
      ldwrap
      netdiscovery
      printeradd
      printertest
      vendormenu

Those are all executables, but I can't seem to get any to execute.

Again I am just ignorant to this, I don't even know what a Linux driver file type is so I can enter 'other' in the driver dialog for the CUPS.

In this case, a closer look at CUPS' own log files (to be accessed via it's own "web" interface) may reveal some more details on what is going on and what not ...

OK, I looked for a log in CUPS, all I could find was a Jobs record. That record says everything has printed, but in reality, nothing has.
          Very odd.

            There you go ...

            http://localhost:631/admin/log/access_log
            http://localhost:631/admin/log/error_log

... and don't you dare telling me they are empty :P

OK, I tried to get my wife to do it as I am at work. She got to the admin/logs area, but selecting either of the logs gets her a blank white page, nothing at all...I'll take a peak when I get home.

                Hello,

I have just been browsing the forum and have read through the replies you have had. I am afraid I don't have the "answer" but I had a similar problem with a HP DeskJet 610C. Have a look at the reply to my message on "Cannot print with DeskJet 610C". When you use the wizard does it show more than one port for the printer? Just try all of them even though they may look unlikely

                Hope this helps

                Roy

WTH - O.k. then, back to square one: what happens when you try to print a test page from http://localhost:631/printers/? (Did you have a look at this page, by the way?)

That link is actually how I got the printer set up at all
The CUPS test print says it prints, but it does not actually print. No errors. Same when I tried to print from KWord, the job showed up in CUPS and said it printed, but no errors.

What have I done to deserve this ...

                      - Plan B: sudo lsmod | grep 'lp' - (assuming the parallel port is being used to contact the printer);
                      - Plan C: stuff those obscure Samsung Linux files in an archive and mail this to me for inspection.

My apologies, I should have clarified, I am using USB.

I will compress the disk tonight and send it off to you.

                          It was a 50:50 chance, I'd say

Also, I am emailing the compressed disk files.

OH, and, I forgot to mention:
When I send a print job, the printer powers up as if it is going to print, just doesn't. But when I use the button on the printer to do a test page, it prints beautifully.
