    Kubuntu vs Xubuntu

    Yup - another newbie question:
I'm a long time WinDoze user, and finally made the decision to jump ship...I've been looking at Kubuntu as a good place to get my feet wet in the world of Linux, and have also done some reading on Xubuntu. From what I've read (and please correct any mistakes here ) Kubuntu runs a "full desktop" (KDE), and Xubuntu runs a "lighter" UI (XFce)...I'd like to look at both - can I install both and switch between them to compare / contrast?

Sure thing 8) even though I'd rather suggest to install one as "primary" system and the other (ones, for you've missed Ubuntu ...) as "secondary" (read: virtual) system(s) - that's the way I do it (with more then five systems in parallel, but that's a different story), and it works pretty well ...

      Install Kubuntu first.

You can always add Xubuntu later:
