    "Fooling" CPIA with Python <<2.4

Greetings fellow hominids, greetings from the edge of the world!

I am tasked with getting a QX3 going for a student. The ONLY working script I have found relies on the CPIA package that depends on Python <<2.4. The problem is we use that machine to run the latest Python/Idle in order to teach that student Python. When I try to load CPIA it tells me it cant find the dependent version of course and I have just begun Python myself so I do not know how to get around this. I gather from reading all the "HELP!!!" messages that CPIA fails to compile with later versions of Python and that there is no longer a need - for most - to use this antiquated device and thus no updated CPIA.....

My question is what would happen if I installed Python 2.3xxxxxx on the same machine and would it crash her?
Also there is this idea that perhaps there is a way to fool the CPIA install into thinking that the version is correct, similar to the "version ignore" switch. Is that possible and again would it crash and eat her homework?

    Thanks for your time ALL!
