Which version do you have. If it's edgy see "BerylOnEdgy" at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BerylOnEdgy

What video card are you using. If by chance it is an nvidia card there are many helpful hints posted here...

        What worked for me:
(I have Edgy on an o--ld Dell Dimension with nVidia FX 5500 video card)

        I followed this guide:
        http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/I...nVidia#Kubuntu

It tells you how to make a script to automatically get the latest nVidia driver, add the Beryl repository, and set Beryl up to start automatically when you log in. I just copied the code from firefox into konsole or kate (depending on what the guide said) -- remember, in konsole ctrl+V isn't paste (by default), use shift+Insert.

The above guide is only for nVidia video cards. If you have another kind of card, see Beryl's XGL or AIGLX sections here:
        http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/I...eryl_on_Ubuntu

ALSO: the recent Beryl beta failed to work unless I removed all Beryl packages and re-ran this guide, so it worked for me as of today.

        I hope this helps
