There's an option to show links to mounted harddrives: Rightclick on desktop->configure desktop->Behaviour tab->Device Icons tab
If this doesn't work you can easily just make yourself a shortcut: Rightclick->Create new->Link to location
Just link it to wherever your hard drive is mounted(/dev/hb1 for example).
