    Simple backup Question Hopefully

My friend just got a 200gb hd and is wanting to install it in his computer
what I am needing to do is backup his passwords and settings on his computer
the rest doesnt matter but stuff like bookmarks in firefox, firefox passwords,System settings,Kde wallet passwords my understanding is this is all saved in the /home folder Would I be ok just taring that up and burning to cd or would I also need to add other directories? Also total of 3 years on the machine would I need to do this for each as well?

/home has all the user settings.

System-wide settings are usually in /etc
