    probelms installing kubuntu

    Hi,

I'm installing kunbuntu 6.10 for the first time. When rebooting after installing from a live DVD the loader hangs and givens the message
    "waiting for root file system"

I have one 400GB SATA HD with the following partitions
~ 50GB NTSF with windows installed on sda1
    ~ 200GB NTFS on sda2
    ~ 50GB ext3 on sda3
~ 1GB logical parition on sda5 for swap (on sda4)

I just used the automatic installer chosing the option to fill up the rest of the disk.

I've googled around and this error does get mentioned, but oftern in the contex of mutilip drives. I only have one.

    Thanks for any help

That suggests that although maybe the space has been allocated, it's not been formatted. Try booting the live DVD, and using QTParted to allocate and format the remaining space to ext2, or whatever fs you want to use.

Thanks. But I don't think this is the problem. If a look at the HD from the live DVD I can see the linux files on the drive.
