Config.dat Locked

i am trying to install the driver for my video card

an ati radeon 9200

and i keep getting the following error message:

debconf: DbDriver "config": /var/cache/debconf/config.dat is locked by another process

any help is greatly appreciated

u have to kill the process using it
2 ways
1st
k menu>system>ksysguard
open the process table tab find the process using it n kill it (kill button below)
if it doesnt work us the other way

2nd
open a console write
ps -ax
find the process n pid ( pid is the process number up in front)
write again
sudo kill -kill pid (number insted of pid)

if u get a black screen dont get scared hit alt+f1 if it isnt already there
write
sudo reboot
u reboot an there it is back again
sorry if it dint help got an nvidia card so i cant be shure if u get or not a black screen whit ati

I'm a newbie like u

if u have some troubles u should try to search the forum so u dint have to wait for an answer
most of the driver issues were already solved by some body else
that's how i fixed my troubles
