    Cooling fan runs continuously.

When I boot into Kubuntu, my cooling fan fires up to full speed and runs continuously that way. Booting back into Windows, the fan is quiet as usual and seems to run at a speed proportional to the need. Not a big deal, but the extra noise is annoying and my home is powered from a solar array, so we're energy conscious. Is there some control for managing the fan operation?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, and sorry for the cranky flavor of my previous post. I was simply tired and frustrated. This is a great OS and a great forum. Now I'm ready to buckle in and learn something...

I used Google to search for you problem and here's what I found. The first hit seems pretty thorough.
In a world without windows and fences who needs Gates?
