Dual core + Wireless Support

I just bought a AMD dual core computer, and was wondering which version of the latest kubuntu I should get?Kubuntu 6.10 PC edition of 64 bit edition?

Also, I'm going to need a wireless adapter. Can I just pick any one I want, and it will be compatible with the kubuntu OS I choose?
