I've been having some issues lately with my internet connection going down at random times. I have 3 machines connecting via a wired Belkin router to my broadband internet connection. The other two machines are Windows XP machines and the connection will be fine on them, but I will periodically go down, usually when my machine is idle. This problem has not occured when I have been using Windows on this same machine.
I'm wondering what could be causing my notebook to lose its connection when all the other machines are fine. Also, I don't know if this is related but perhaps it is. Is it necessary for me to join the same Windows workgroup as the other computers on my home network? It is not urgent for me because I will be going back to college on Sunday, but I still would like to know what is necessary for me to share files and the printer on my Windows XP box to this Linux machine.
