Sound drivers?

I am running Edgy on my Dell Inspiron 9300 with a Sigmatel audio device. Under [K]Ubuntu, my media files sound very tinny and almost like those bargain store earbuds. Do I have to hunt for certain drivers or stuff to make my onboard speakers sound as good as under WinXP?

If you get any sound you should look at Kmix to see if you can make it better. Make sure your speakers are not muted. You can access Kmix via the volume control button - there is a button at the bottom that says "mixer".
