    Screen resolution with Live DVD

    Hi!
Yesterday I tried Kubuntu Live DVD for the first time. The screen resolution it sets automatically is 1024x768 and I cannot move the slider to the higher resolution because there is not higher resolution The 1024x768 is the last on the right. Usually I use higher resolution and never have had any problem with it in any system. Is this issue of Live DVD only? And what if I'll install Kubuntu on hard drive?

    Thank you in advance.

Re: Screen resolution with Live DVD

    Hi,

You should be able to change the resolution in xorg.conf (/etc/X11) if you will install it, it will be taken well.
If you want to can try to do it in the live dvd. To do so :
    kdesu kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Modify all lines with 1024x768 by the res you want
Save it, and close the file.
Finally form a konsole : type
    sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart

    Hope it helps.

You might also not have the proper drivers for you video card installed. For me, and my Dell E1405, I had to manually install the onboard Intel drives before I could make the appropriate resolution change.
