    Xine, Kaffine skew the image.

    Greetings,

I d/l the codecs as I was instructed. Now when I am playing a movie it is squished to the left side of the window. I tried to changed that through preferences but nothing. As an fyi I am using a monitor hooked up to a laptop because the screen is cracked.

I also tried to enable dma to get rid of the choppiness however this is what I get:

    root@mac-laptop:/home/mac# sudo hdparm /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc: No such file or directory
    root@mac-laptop:/home/mac# sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc: No such file or directory

    Cheers,
    mac

    Do you have hdc ?

What tells dmesg | grep hdc ?

    Example:

    Code:
    :~$ dmesg | grep hdc
    [17179574.416000] ide1: BM-DMA at 0xf008-0xf00f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:DMA
    [17179575.792000] hdc: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4165B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
    [17179576.760000] hdc: ATAPI 48X DVD-ROM DVD-R-RAM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, UDMA(33)

Re: Xine, Kaffine skew the image.

      Greetings,

      Here is what I have:

      root@mac-laptop:/home/mac# dmesg | grep hdc
      [17179574.124000] ide1: BM-DMA at 0xbfa8-0xbfaf, BIOS settings: hdcio, hddio
      root@mac-laptop:/home/mac#

I hope that this info helps.

Plus do you have any idea why it is skewing.

      Cheers,
      Mac

This is ide controller info. But no hard drive or cd info. Do you have hdc ? Check hda/hdb.

What codecs ? From where ?

Have you tried to start kaffeine in the konsole ? In the konsole you can see possible error messages.

Check /var/log/Xorg.0.log it's also in K > System > System Logs Viewer (Display the X.org log). Any errors ?

It did not have any logs of errors that occured when I ran the video program. It still show the video skewed to one side.
