    /tmp directory

Recently when I tried to log into my computer, it gave me an error. It said that it couldn't write to /tmp. Then it said that x-session might not work, and it didn't. I did get in with the failsafe mode, but I don't know what to do to correct the problem. Can you give me any help?

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Scott,

chances are that your harddisk is "overflowing" ... you may have a look at this thread on how to proceed.

      Re: /tmp directory

the error I have is as follows:

could not read network connection list
      /home/scott/.DCopserver.Warner-laptop_0
Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running

All I can currently do is run in Konsole. I am not comfortable there. I checked the recommended thread, but I didn't really understand what I should do. If my main partition is full, what can I delete? I have my /home directory on a its own partition.

      Thanks for your help,
      Scott

Sorry - I obviously misinterpreted your previous posting

A possible interpretation of the "dcopserver" message: http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/DCOPserver

Ok. That link seems to be the answer, but I can't find a DCOPserver file, much less 2. I am able to log in as one user, but not as mine.

What part of CH are you in? I'm in WInterthur.

          Thanks,
          Scott

Thanks for your help. It's all fixed now. The link was the key to it.
